WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced electronic systems manufacturer Prime Technology in North Branford is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Prime Technology was founded in 1973 as a veteran-owned small business that specializes in the manufacturing of precision instruments and systems, producing commercial, nuclear, and military products. The company moved to their current 36,000 square foot facility in North Branford in 1982.

Prime Technology’s mission is to design and manufacture instruments and electronic systems through innovative engineering. They manufacture products ranging from intricate electromechanical assemblies to state-of-the-art electronics incorporating surface mount and chip-on-board technologies. Prime Technology has a diverse client base which includes Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics Electric Boat, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Prime Technology's military footprint is large. In fact, every new naval ship and submarine since 1985 has some type of equipment designed and manufactured by Prime Technology.

“Connecticut manufacturers continue to prove they are the best at what they do. Prime Technology’s work can be seen around the globe, and their products are used to keep us safe. I’m proud to highlight them,” said Murphy.

“Prime Technology is a proud partner with the Navy and defense contracting in Connecticut. Other small businesses that benefit from this market include over 600 companies employing thousands of people with good paying skilled jobs,” said Keith Macdowall, Vice President of Prime Technology.

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the BuyAmerican.gov Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
