PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy have granted Plainville-based Wheeler Clinic a three-year $370,500 grant to provide Mental Health First Aid training.

“We’re proud to stand with Wheeler Clinic today to celebrate this funding, which will help identify signs of mental illness and make our communities a more compassionate place for young adults living with mental illness,” said Senators Blumenthal and Murphy.

The program is meant to increase mental health awareness by teaching risk factors and waiting signs for young adults who may be developing a mental health challenge.

Wheeler is recognized as Connecitut’s leader in the mental health field . The clinic has provided 65 training sessions for more than 1,200 participants withing the last few years.
