WATERBURY — Crosby High School junior Jayvon Eason was appointed as a U.S. Senate Page for the Spring 2020 program.
“Jayvon is an honor roll student and promising young leader who has a passion for using technology to make government work better for people,” said U.S. Sen. Christopher S. Murphy, D-Conn., who appointed Eason.
Eason’s Page responsibilities in the Senate chamber include delivering correspondence and legislative materials within the Congressional complex, taking messages for members, preparing the Chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk. He’ll also be required to attend morning Page School classes.
“This opportunity is something I hope will give me a deeper understanding on how our nation functions and how it could be fixed,” Eason said. “Additionally, to be meeting tons of empowering people is also something I’ll never forget.”
Murphy noted Eason will “have a front-row seat to history” as the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump continues.
