FAIRFIELD - Sen. Chris Murphy spoke with commuters at a Fairfield rest stop off the Merritt Parkway Tuesday.
He asked the drivers why they were "fed up" with travel in the state, so he can take their stories to Washington.
The senator says if people want better roadways it will cost them.
"People have to be willing to support some way to get more resources, to widen I-95 for more trains on Metro-North. The money to do that just doesn't fall off trees and that is part of the tougher conversation," says Sen. Murphy.
Sen. Murphy says his office wants to get Connecticut more federal funding to fix the highways.
