WASHINGTON—U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), along with U.S. Representatives John Larson (CT-1) and Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin announced a $4,648,305 Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly award in the City of Hartford. This funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will go to the New Samaritan Corporation to support the production of 22 units of low-income elderly households.

“Quality affordable housing is too sparse in Connecticut’s urban centers and surrounding communities. This grant will provide critical funding to ensure our elderly will have safe, clean, and affordable housing in their golden years. This is a good step towards addressing the affordable housing crisis we are experiencing in Connecticut,” said the Connecticut congressional members.

“This funding will help low-income Hartford seniors age with dignity, and we are very grateful to Senator Blumenthal, Senator Murphy, and Congressman Larson for their work to secure this grant,” said Mayor Bronin.
