WASHINGTON— Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), announced Guilford’s Defibtech LLC as the ThinkGlobal Exporter of the Year in the Medical/Scientific Product and Equipment Category. A world-renowned defibrillator manufacturer, Defibtech was selected for the award by Think Global Inc., the official export magazine of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Defibtech designs and manufactures the award winning Lifeline™ and ReviveR™ brands of defibrillators and related accessories, and exports over 40 percent of products internationally. The company was founded by two Yale University graduates, and manufactures its defibrillators in the United States.
“Defibtech is leading the way for Connecticut and the United States with its commitment to American manufacturing and international sales,” said Murphy.“The company not only manufactures state-of-the-art medical equipment, it manufactures the equipment right here at home. As we work to bring more manufacturing jobs back to the United States, companies should follow the lead of Defibtech and prioritize American manufacturing in their business models. In my role as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs, I’ll look to innovative companies like Defibtech for help in improving export policies so they meet the needs of our economy.”

Criteria on which winners were selected include the total number of documented export transactions, the total percentage increase in sales, exports as a percentage of total sales, the company’s commitment to exporting, the company’s commitment to customer service, and the company’s innovation and originality in marketing products or services. To be eligible for the award, a company must currently be exporting from the United States.
