NEWINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing Corporation – a woman- and family-owned manufacturer of precision metal stampings and prototypes – is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Founded in 1967, Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing is a full-service metal stamping shop that manufactures assemblies, brackets, gaskets, washers, shims, and seals for the aerospace and commercial industries. The company serves customers around the globe, including McClain International, Wesco Aircraft, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Inc., the U.S. government, and Connecticut’s own Pratt & Whitney and PW Power Systems.

Using stainless steel, nickel, cobalt alloys, aluminum, and other high temperature specialty metals, Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing’s 19 hardworking engineers, machinists, and inspection personnel help their clients make airplanes, automobiles, and other commercial products safer and more reliable. The company currently operates out of a 13,500 square foot manufacturing space, but is planning to expand their operations to a much larger, 20,000 square foot facility that will be able to accommodate up to 10 new hires.

“Defense companies all over the world are in great need of high-quality, cost-effective parts," said Murphy. "Connecticut is home to the best manufacturers in the world – like Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing – that are ready to meet that‎ demand. Just this morning, I met with Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing at UTC’s Supplier Resource Workshop, and it’s clear to me that the Newington manufacturer is a lifeline to hundreds of manufacturers, including Pratt and Whitney, that depend on their stampings. I'm confident that Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing is poised to help lead the expansion of Connecticut's aerospace industry. ”

Lynda Prigodich-Reed, CEO & Quality Assurance Manager at Atlas Stamping and Manufacturing, said, “We strive to do the job right, the first time, on time, every time.”

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state’s economic recovery. Today, Connecticut’s 4,602 manufacturers account for 10.2% of the state’s jobs and 87% of the state’s total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
