WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement regarding last night’s Metro-North service disruption:

Last night's two hour interruption in service was just the latest in an unacceptably long line of massive failures by Metro-North. Clearly, this organization needs a top-down change to the way they do business. It simply belies common sense for the railroad to be doing sensitive maintenance that could compromise the signal system during the peak of rush hour. I will be working with Governor Malloy, Senator Blumenthal, and Representative Himes to make sure that the new leadership team at Metro-North is committed to changing its operational culture so that these breakdowns in service and safety cease being a near weekly occurrence.
