WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Wednesday released the following statement after President Trump signed an Executive Order temporarily suspending immigration into the U.S. for 60 days amid the COVID-19 pandemic:

Instead of running an effective response to this crisis, President Trump is just flailing around wildly trying to find someone else to blameChina, the World Health Organization, and now immigrants. Let's be clear—we don’t have a shortage of PPE, ventilators, or testing because of immigrants. We are in the position we’re in today because this administration didn’t take this crisis seriously,” said Murphy.
