MURPHY STATEMENT ON U.S. COAST GUARD’S 225TH ANNIVERSARY

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement on the 225th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard:

“For almost as long as we have been a country, the United States Coast Guard has been one of the most important protectors of our coasts, our waterways, our environment, and our national security,” said Murphy. “And as home to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy for more than a century, I’m particularly proud of the role that Connecticut has played in the Coast Guard’s evolution. Today, we honor the brave men and women who, over the last 225 years, have served and sacrificed for our country, and we recognize the rich history and noble contributions of America’s premier maritime agency.”
