MURPHY: “THE SUPREME COURT’S DECISION IS A VICTORY FOR WOMEN AND THEIR HEALTH”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) applauded the U.S. Supreme Court’s 5-3 ruling on Monday in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt that Texas had imposed unconstitutional burdens on women’s access to abortion. 

“The Supreme Court’s decision is a victory for women and their health,” said Murphy. “The Texas law was an illegal and baseless excuse to intrude on a woman’s constitutional right to a safe and legal abortion, and it was a sham from the start. This is an historic decision that will increase access to care, decrease wait times, and improve women’s health.”
