WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Thursday released the following statement:
“Senator Tuberville is blocking promotions for hundreds of our most senior military officers and inflicting potentially irreparable harm on our servicemembers, their families, and our national security – all in the name of telling women what kind of health care they can and cannot get. I’m glad he caved and allowed Generals Brown, George, and Smith to receive their long overdue promotions tonight, but there are still more than 300 officers who are being denied the rank they deserve because of the indefensible actions of Senator Tuberville and Senator Tuberville alone. Senators should not be in the business of using our service members as political pawns, and I hope my Republican colleagues convince him to abandon this moronic tantrum.”
