WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, on Wednesday released the following statement on reports that the Trump Administration will divert millions of FEMA dollars to support his anti-immigrant agenda:
“The Trump administration has attempted to illegally deny much needed federal aid to Puerto Ricans once before, and it’s shameful he is doing it again the eve of a major storm. Transferring money away from FEMA and to his hateful wall, just as Hurricane Dorian touches down in Puerto Rico, will have deadly consequences. Our Puerto Rican community deserves better, and Congress must hold all those accountable who fail to meet their dire needs,” said Murphy.
